Duties

Under the supervision of the Senior Cultural Affairs Specialist, the Cultural Affairs Assistant for Emerging Leaders coordinates exchange programs for young professionals, such as the International Visitors Leadership Program (IVLP), designed for emerging leaders. S/he coordinates the program for the Embassy and its five Consulates in Germany, and serves as back-up support for Fulbright, NATO, and other exchange programs. S/he serves as the point of contact on the International Visitor Resource Center (IVRC), an extensive database maintained by Washington.


 

Qualifications and Evaluations

Requirements:

EXPERIENCE: Two (2) years of administrative or program management experience in an international or bilingual environment is required.

- General knowledge of cultural and educational systems in Germany and the United States required.

Education Requirements:

Completion of secondary school and two years of college level studies resulting in an Associate’s degree/Fachhochschulabschluss is required.

Evaluations:

LANGUAGE:  Fluent English and German language skills - reading/speaking/writing required. 


SKILLS AND ABILITIES:  please address this factor in your ERA application under major duties and responsibilities.


- Good drafting/writing skills in both languages with little to no editing requirements - this may be tested.

Locally Employed Staff, including Members of Household (MOHs),working at the U.S. Mission in Germany  receive a compensation package that include German social security benefits (health, care, unemployment and pension insurance).


For EFMs, benefits should be discussed with the Human Resources Office and are in line with Department of State EFM programs.


The pay plan is assigned at the time of the conditional offer letter by the HR Office.
